HOLDENVILLE, Okla. (AP) -- A catfish processing plant in Holdenville has closed, laying off 46 employees.
Aqua Farms, which has operated for 20 years, began as an attempt by RedArk Development Authority to stimulate business in economically deprived Hughes County.
Plant manager Roy Ramsey says rising fuel costs, foreign competition and difficulty retaining employees contributed to the plant's problems.
