A 13-year-old Tulsa girl is forced into an SUV at knifepoint Monday morning and barely makes her escape. It happened Monday morning near Foster Middle School

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says the girl's mom says her daughter has walked to school for years and can't believe this happened just a block from her house.

Sandy Greenwood says her daughter was walking along a street, near 121st East Avenue and 22nd Street South, when a man pulled alongside in a green Ford Expedition. He told her to get in. She said no and ran. The girl told Tulsa Police the man sped up and cut her off. She says he jumped out with a knife and threatened to stab her if she didn't get in the SUV.

Tulsa Police say he forced her into the passenger side, and that when he went back around to get in the driver's side, she jumped out and ran.

Sandy Greenwood: "It just scares the life out of me. I look at her now thinking I'm glad she's here because something else could have happened, something else could have turned out and I think the worst. It just makes me sick."

Tulsa Police say they have an unusually good description of both the man and the vehicle to work with. It's a green, Ford Expedition, with expensive-looking wheels.

The suspect is described as a black male, with a bald head. Average height and build. But they say he has a distinctive tattoo of a cross on his right bicep.

They're hoping that distinctive combination of tattoo and vehicle will tip somebody off on who this man is and where to find him.
