OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A dog who suffered burns during a wildfire in February has returned home to his owners.
The mixed-breed terrier called Sammy suffered burns on his back, sides and thighs during the fire in Braggs in Muskogee County and almost died.
He's undergone skin graft surgeries and intensive care at Oklahoma State University's veterinary hospital the last five weeks. Vets at the hospital cleared Sammy to return home with David and Krystal Toland, who are renting a house in Muskogee.
Krystal Toland says she's bought Sammy a new dog bed and will lavish him with love and care.
Sammy's treatment cost about $7,000 and OSU is raising money to pay for his care.
