The University of Central Oklahoma started classes back up Monday, but all are online due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Students have said it has been an adjustment of their schedule and learning experience.
“I think going from having everything in class where you have your professor for help to not having that is the biggest adjustment,” said Alyssa Gentry, a senior.
Gentry is in 27 credit hours this semester, so she can graduate in May.
“It is a hard adjustment,” said Gentry. “But then I think it is not just me this is happening to, it is the whole state, the whole county and the whole world.”
But it is not a secret that although seniors are trying to stay positive, they are thinking about graduation.
“I am a first-generation college graduate and it is important for me and my family,” said Serene Russel, a senior. “I have worked a long time to get here and have overcome a lot. I would rather walk late than never.”
Russell hopes that UCO will ask for their seniors’ input before making the call.
“I have seen them send out surveys for other things,” said Russell. “So, I would hope that they would ask for our input.”
The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University have also not announced their plans for graduation.
