A coronavirus model from the University of Washington predicts more than 130,000 Americans could die of the virus by August.
The model increased its projections because more states are now easing restrictions.
Vice President Mike Pence says 41 states have now released formal reopening plans.
But a key coronavirus model significantly increased its death toll projection, as physical distancing measures are eased in those states.
Still though, officials are urging everyone to wear a mask when they go out in public.
"Cases are still on the rise in our country. It's way too early to let our guard down,” said Dr. David Dodson, an infectious disease expert.
"You can literally kill someone because you didn't want to wear a mask,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo.
