JENKS, Okla. - During a virtual meeting between Jenks Chamber of Commerce and Superintendent Dr. Stacey Butterfield tried to answer some questions about how the virus will change school for next year.

She said a lot of questions may not have answers for the next couple of months.

School districts across the state are hoping for guidance from the Oklahoma State Board of Education next week about changes to the next school year when students and faculty return in the fall.

Questions about sports returning in the fall were asked during the meeting.

Dr. Butterfield said decisions about sports come from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association and she said they’re hoping to receive recommendations and guidelines for the summer sports by next week.

She said the goal in Jenks is for students to return in person to classrooms in the fall unless they are forced to continue distance learning because of the virus.
