TULSA, Okla. - Two movie theaters in Tulsa are reopening again, with some restrictions.

The Admiral Twin Drive-In Theater and Cinergy Tulsa are the first places to start playing films again.

The owner of the Admiral Twin tells me he's trying to give people a return to some sense of normal. And, with everyone socially distanced in their cars, he said this is a safe way to do that.

Hours before the Admiral Twin re-opened, Families lined up in their cars and vans. Owner Blake Smith said they'll only be open on the weekends for now.

The concession stand is closed, and the drive-in will only use one of its screens.

"The reason for that is the bathrooms. At intermission we could have hundreds of people in line for the bathroom. So that's the one concession we had to make to try and make this work," Smith said.

They're also trying something completely new for them -- online ticket sales. Smith said they're ready to get back to business and help give an escape to families with cabin fever.

"Losing April and May, it's a lot of revenue we lost, but I'm not the only guy that's lost revenue," Smith said.

Cinergy Tulsa is going through their phased opening as well. Their indoor movie theater is open, and the manager said they've dramatically stepped up cleaning. They're encouraging social distancing, and have a sanitation team constantly cleaning surfaces, and games, after people use them.

Cinergy Tulsa, and Admiral Twin's owner tell me, they're working hard to keep movie-goers safe.

"I hope that we get through this and it never happens again, for all the obvious reasons," Smith said.

Other theaters like Cinemark, AMC and Regal aren't open again just yet. All three of the biggest chains said they won't be reopening until at least late June.

Experts said it'll likely be a few months before any big studio Hollywood movies come out in theaters.
