The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office is working its first homicide of the year.
Deputies say they have arrested Cindy Jones for first-degree manslaughter in the death of Danny Reed. According to deputies Jones and Reed knew each other and have children together. Undersheriff Michael Mahan says Jones is the person who called 9-1-1.
"The initial caller said that the individual had accidentally shot himself while cleaning his gun. Once investigators arrived on scene they were able to interview that individual and we determined that in fact was not the case," said Mahan.
Reed was transported to a hospital where he later died. Deputies say the children were present at the home but did not witness the shooting. Authorities say DHS is now involved in the case.
This is a developing story...
