We're gearing up for the Memorial day weekend and although more people may be wanting to get out and hit the road, traffic is expected to drop for Memorial Day.

AAA said this Memorial Day weekend is likely to set a record low for holiday travel.

In fact, AAA said for the first time in 20 years, they won't even be issuing a Memorial Day travel forecast.

Typically, AAA's forecast predicts how many people plan on traveling over the weekend.

Last year, AAA said 43 million Americans hit the road. That was the second-highest travel volume since 2000.

But because of COVID-19, AAA said millions will be staying home this weekend; and those who are planning on traveling won't go very far from home.

If you are heading out on Friday, you won't see gas prices that high.

News On 6 checked around town this morning, and prices are around $1.54 a gallon.

The CDC is still recommending everyone stay home as much as they can to stop the spread of COVID-19.
