Tulsa Police are searching for a teenager who officers say ran away from home.
According to police it started around 9 Sunday night when the 14-year-old's father told police the girl had left home to spend the night with a friend without his permission. The father told officers he saw a gold minivan leaving their home so he called the girl who told him she was going to her friend's house.
Not knowing the address, the father pinged the girl's cell phone and found out she was near Pine and Sheridan. Police say the father and his son drove to the address but couldn't find her. Before police got there, they say the father got a text saying his daughter would be fine.
Another text then threatened violence if the father didn't give them a large amount of money. Police say after knocking on several doors they found out the cell phones were in the area of Pine and Lewis. Officers went to that location but couldn't find the girl.
Police say they are still investigating and trying to find the teen. Her name has not been released.
