A total of eight people filed to run for Tulsa mayor in the August 2020 non-partisan race.

The candidates include Ken Reddick, Zackri Whitlow, Paul Tay, Ricco Wright, Craig Immel, Ty Walker, Greg Robinson and incumbent GT Bynum.

Robinson told News On 6 before filing, he had been praying and felt called to represent the leadership Tulsa that needs.

The 30-year-old said some may call him young and naive, but he believes he has the passion and courage to be Tulsa's next mayor.

"I'm scared to stand up and say that this is what the time has called for and that I'm the person that's called for it, but what I'm most scared of is continuing to live in a city where we're not doing right by all of the citizens of Tulsa," said Robinson.

Robinson's supporters include Tulsa City Council member Vanessa Hall-Harper and Dr. Tiffany Crutcher, whose twin brother Terence Crutcher was shot and killed by a Tulsa police officer in 2016. A jury later found the officer not guilty.

Dr. Crutcher said she will be Robinson's senior campaign advisor.

"It's time for us to get to a place of racial healing in this city," said Dr. Crutcher. “This moment is historical as we encroach upon the anniversary of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.”

Robinson said his campaign will be a collaborative effort between many groups and he wants independent citizen oversight over the police department.

“There are too many people in this city that don't have access to the proper education, that don't have access to the proper housing, that don't have access to the proper economic opportunities," said Robinson.

News On 6 requested an interview with Mayor Bynum. His campaign shared this statement:

“Mayor Bynum is focused on leading our community through the current challenges and keeping Tulsans focused on renewing our spirit of high expectations just like he outlined when he first ran four years ago. Being Mayor of Tulsa is more than a full-time job, especially in 2020. As such, we will have a campaign kick-off at a later date and we encourage those with an interest to go to gtbynum.com to sign-up for updates.”
