After weeks of individual and small group workouts the Energy FC was finally cleared to scrimmage.

"We're just glad to be able to get out and play the game we love playing and play it the way we want to," said Energy FC head coach John Pascarella. "There was contact there in the game a little bit of physicality. You could see the emotion coming out because of it."

"Now that you can actually kick another player, it's kinda fun, you know?" Energy FC defender Kyle Hyland said with a laugh.

All smiles because practice is ramping up and everybody is virus free.

"The entire group tested the other day," Pascarella said. "The entire group was negative. This bubble is now pretty much our bubble for the season.... provided the players are as disciplined as they have been the last couple of months, I think we'll be okay."

The United Soccer League season is scheduled to resume on July 11.

"From a league's perspective they're working diligently to make sure everybody is first and foremost safe," Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi said. "And to be able to get the matches in and to kind of showcase what we can do as individuals on the field moving forward."

The USL announced Wednesday the format for the remainder of the season. Teams will be divided into 8 regionalized groups, with 16 regular season games, followed by a single-elimination playoff. The groups will be announced this Thursday and Friday.
