Tulsa Police said Omar Baabbad was arrested after a man was taken to a hospital in serious condition, and later died, after being hit by a car near 71st Street and Sheridan.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said Baabbad was working as a driver and got into an altercation with a passenger.

According to police, the passenger then got out and began to walk away.

Officers said Babbad is accused of then running over the passenger in a parking lot and claims the passenger threatened him with a gun.

Police said witnesses the victim was trying to walk away and said he felt threatened and told Babbad he had a gun but did not show any kind of weapon.

Police said no gun was found at the scene.

An Uber spokesperson said, "What’s being reported is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. Our thoughts are with the rider’s family. We removed the driver’s access to the platform and stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation.”
