TPD: Father Killed Daughter, Himself In Domestic Shooting

A father and daughter are dead and his wife is in critical condition after Tulsa police said the father shot the victims in their home near 21st Street and Yale. 

"Shocking. Very shocking,” neighbor Jasha Lee said. “It's not something we would expect from them.”

Lee said she's lived next door to the family for over 20 years.  

"They were a great family,” Lee said. “The mother had health conditions. The daughter had mental illness. They had doctor appointments. They could not drive and he cooked, he cleaned. He did everything.” 

Police said a man called around 3:30 Sunday afternoon saying he shot his wife and daughter. Authorities said a dispatcher remained on the phone with the shooter, trying to negotiate with him.

When officers got to the home, they found the father and his daughter dead from gunshot wounds. 

"This isn't one of those calls you get every day where someone calls in and says they just shot a loved one, so that must have been pretty trying for him,” TPD Capt. Mark Ohnesorge said. “I know it was trying on the officers on scene as well to be here when all of this was happening.”

Lee thinks exhaustion could have been a factor. 

"It was exhausting to have to care for both of them," Lee said.

Investigators have not confirmed the victims' names. Police do not have a further update on the condition of the mother.
