The Tulsa Police Department said Officer Aurash Zarkeshan is awake and communication with family and loved ones.
He was one of two Tulsa Police Officers shot by a suspect during a traffic stop last Monday.
Officer Zarkeshan and Sgt. Craig Johnson were shot during a traffic stop.
Both were taken to the hospital were Sgt. Johnson later died from his injuries.
TPD said doctors were able to remove Zarkeshan's breathing tube on Tuesday, and he is able to stand now.
Doctors said he is well ahead of where they expected given his injuries.
Police said David Anthony Ware shot Sgt. Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan and is now charged with murder and is facing other charges.
Matt Hall, who is accused of picking up Ware at the scene, is facing one count of accessory to murder and another charge.
