A state trooper who has been recognized on a national level for his service is retiring.

Trooper Rocky Northcutt has served with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol since 1991.

In 1998, he was injured in a shooting with two suspects who had kidnapped a New Mexico Police officer. He was awarded National Trooper of the Year.

His legacy will continue with his son, who is also an Oklahoma State Trooper.
