Amazon will begin the process of hiring more than 1,500 people for its Tulsa fulfillment center.

The retail giant plans to start interviews today and continue the process through next month.

Employees will pack and ship items such as books, electronics and toys to customers at the new Tulsa location.

The hiring event will take place at the Tulsa Technology Conference Center in Owasso.

The company will host 12 of these events each Monday through Friday starting at 9:00 a.m. to ending around 4:00 p.m.

Each of the events will host nearly 25 candidates.

Amazon says they are taking steps to keep employees and applicants safe through the pandemic.

The interviewers will be provided personal protective equipment like masks and gloves.

Candidates are asked to avoid the in-person interview process if they are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms.

The company also recognizes people impacted by the pandemic and encourage anyone furloughed to apply until their employer can bring them back.

Amazon says they offer several benefits.

The minimum age to apply is 18.
