McALESTER, Okla. -

The McAlester Police Department is investigating a homicide after finding a man’s body inside a house early Wednesday morning.

Lt. Preston Rodgers, with MPD’s Criminal Investigation Division, said someone called 911 just before 12:30 a.m. to report a possible injured man at a house near Electric Avenue and North West Street. He said when officers arrived, they found a dead man inside the house.

Rodgers said right now it's not clear how the man died, but believes it is a homicide. He said their investigation led them to a person of interest, a woman, who investigators took into custody to question.

Investigators aren’t releasing the woman’s name right now and they haven't identified the victim.

Rodgers say OSBI's Crime Scene Unit is helping with the investigation and the medical examiner is on the scene.

He said this is the city’s third homicide in 2020.
