The man killed early Wednesday in an officer-involved shooting has been identified, Oklahoma City police said.

Kyle Elrod, 30, was identified as the man killed in the shooting.

Two Cleveland County deputies were conducting a traffic stop about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of SW 89th Street.

An Oklahoma City police officer assisted.

During the stop, police said Elrod was seen with a handgun and pointed it at the officers.

Officers hit Elrod in the backseat.

The two other people in the vehicle were not injured. They were interviewed and released.

The deputies were identified as Colten Harris, a one-year veteran of the department with six years total years of law enforcement experience, and Jordan Norris, who was on the force for one month.

Oklahoma City police identified their officer as Sgt. Julian Barrie, a six-year veteran of the department.

All three have been placed on paid administrative leave.
