This new expansion for Muncie Power Products is the first tenant to build in the new Peoria-Mohawk Business Park. For North Tulsa, it marks the beginning of some new opportunities.

Muncie Power Products is the first tenant to build in the Peoria-Mohawk Business Park. The land for the 120 acre park was purchased by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and prepared for development with $10 million from the Vision Tulsa program. Muncie’s new 250,000 square foot building will replace and expand the company’s current Tulsa operation.

The company manufactures hydraulic power units mainly for industrial use trucks and even during the economic downturn, they're hiring.

“We're really fortunate to have a company like Muncie, that could locate in any city in America, and has been recruited by many of them, choose to stay here and invest in this part of our community” said Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum.

The site and the opportunity the development presents drew praise from City Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper.

“I look forward to the day that I can see someone walk to work, or bike to work, right here on this site” she said.

Plant Manager Doug Sullivent, a life-long Tulsan, said the company is confident they'll get the workforce they need nearby.

“We met with George Kaiser and his foundation, we met with the Mayor, and other community leaders, and you know this was a great fit for us” said Sullivent.

The first phase of the new factory will open next spring.
