After months of delay because of the pandemic, Sotheby's is set to auction off some of the biggest names in art history on Tuesday.

The auction includes more than 70 pieces of art spanning 500 years. Some of the most famous pieces are by Rembrandt and Picasso. A 1927 painting by Spanish artist Joan (Juan) Miro is expected to fetch nearly $38 million.

"He's really doing what were known as his dream paintings. He said, blue is the colour of my dreams. And here you have that wonderfully epitomising, this deep Mediterranean blue of the sky and the sea," said Helena Newman of Sotheby's Europe.

Sotheby's says many of the paintings being sold are being seen for the first time in decades and two thirds of the works have never sold at auction.
