A true crime author has been digging into a story we’ve been following at News On 6 for more than 20 years.

Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible disappeared from the Freemans’ home in Welch in 1999. Ashley’s parents were found murdered at the scene.

Police said the 2 girls were kidnapped and murdered, but their bodies have never been found.

Author Jax Miller spent years researching the case, including speaking with Lauria’s family.

"I hope that anyone with information that can help the familes get closer to finding the girls, I hope that they can read this or I hope that it brings enough publicity that it'll strike a chord with them and hopefully help them come forward with the information they have,” said Miller.

The book is called “Hell in the Heartland” and is available now.
