As Americans wait on a new stimulus bill from Washington, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission is reflecting on the help they've already given.

Long lines were a frequent sight the OESC's in-person events the last few weeks but despite the wait times thousands of Oklahomans got help with their benefits after large influx of claims during COVID-19. Now interim director Shelley Zumwalt says the commission is working on overhauling its system.

"We're currently taking a plan that was before my time and condensing that to a fraction of that time so that we can do exactly what needs to be done," said interim director Zumwalt

Zumwalt says no matter what the federal government decides the OESC will be ready to help Oklahomans. Full details on what will be changed have not been released at this time.
