Tulsa police is investigating an officer-involved shooting on Saturday afternoon.

The shooting was reported near North Harvard Avenue and East Apache Street.

Authorities said a man tried to break into a building just after 2 p.m. Saturday. An initial police call claimed the man tried to jump the fence and enter the property.

Officers found the man armed with a knife.

After he was commanded to put the weapon down, police said the man began cutting himself with the knife.

TPD's crisis intervention team then used a Pepperball round to try and get him to quit. Authorities then said the man aggressively approached officers with the knife still in his hand.

Officers fired at the man, offered first aid and transported him to a local hospital where he later died.

Information on the suspect has not been released at this time.
