The Child Care Resource Center has gone virtual to help childcare workers get the training they need during the pandemic.

Annual training hours are required of childcare professionals to make sure they are properly caring for kids. Now that the courses are virtual, the CCRC says there's more resources at their fingertips.

Community Service Council's Child Care Resource Center normally hosts in-person training courses for childcare workers across Oklahoma who need their annual training hours, but this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, those training have gone virtual.

They have six courses so far, and they are all free. Those classes offer a range of topics from disease and infection control to how to become a better leader. They are prerecorded video sessions currently but some classes will soon be offered online.

CCRC’s Stephanie Daniels says 1,100 people have already participated in these virtual trainings, and they will soon be offering live Zoom courses as well.

Daniels says they chose these topics specifically for this year to make sure kids will be getting the best possible care.

"The first one we did was infection control because it's an annual training they need but we are also in a pandemic so it's a good time to know the difference between sanitizing and disinfecting and cleaning and how to make bleach solution,” Daniels says.
