A Jenks high school student has won the state competition for "Doodle for Google," and she is now in the running for the national competition.

Gwenith Madhan is a 15-year-old Jenks High School student and is now one of 54 finalist from across the U.S.

Jenks Public School Officials said Madhan is "competing for a grand prize of a $30,000 scholarship, $50,000 of technology for her school, Google hardware, and the honor of having her artwork displayed on Google.com for one day."

Madhan just recently found out about winning the competition for Oklahoma.

“Everyone in my family knew for a couple months that I was the Oklahoma winner, but I had no idea until a couple of days ago,” remarked Madhan. “I came home and there was someone from Google at my door with balloons and big box. I was so excited, and I definitely did not expect anything like this to happen. I think I’m still in shock.”

School officials said those who entered the competition were asked "to create a doodle based on their answer to the question of how they show kindness."

Madhan wanted to focus on social media and how kindness can be forgotten on the platforms.

Officials said "she created her doodle to appear as different social media platforms with the Google letters as people with hearts for hands."

“I based my doodle on the idea of positivity and acceptance,” Madhan said.

She wanted to show that everyone can do something every single day to spread kindness.

“I always do my best to speak out on social media if I see people spreading rumors or bullying. I want to spread the message that positivity is not hard. It is free to promote, and it can have a great effect on people’s lives. I didn’t want to show a random act of kindness, but instead, something people can do every single day” Madhan shared.

Now, Madhan is among 54 national finalist and is competing to be among the 5 national finalist before a top finalist is chosen.

Voting is taking place now through Friday August 21st., and you can help one of Oklahoma's Own by voting for Madhan's doodle HERE and then going to the Grades 8-9 option and clicking on Oklahoma.
