The University of Tulsa announced that eight football players have tested positive for COVID-19 and practice has been paused.

The eight that tested positive have been placed in quarantine. The university also said that eight additional student-athletes that were in direct contact with those that tested positive have been placed in quarantine for 14 days.

“It’s unfortunate that we have to pause practice, but the well-being, health and security of our athletes is our number one priority,” said Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery. “We will continue to do everything we can during this stretch to keep our players safe, healthy and at the top of their game mentally.”

There is no word yet as to when practice might resume for the football team.
