The Oklahoma State Department of Education are holding monthly meetings to provide updates on COVID-19.

During Thursday’s meeting, the board discussed an array of topics from Dr. Deborah Birx’s visit to Oklahoma to available testing for teachers and staff through an executive order signed by Gov. Stitt.

State health department leaders also sat in on the meeting to give an overview of the fluid plan they are working on testing for every district.

"The initial phase of our plan we are looking at launching into late next week,” OSDH Center For Health Innovation and Effectiveness Interim Director Adrienne Rollins said. “We hope to have a very clear guide of where and when we will be.”

Rollins said they hope to be able to make it into every district in the next three weeks to perform tests.

The OSDE is also working on include creating emergency response teams to assist if and when outbreaks happen as well as rapid testing.
