Monday is the first day of school for students in Tulsa Public Schools but the district is starting the year with virtual learning.

TPS students will participate in virtual learning for the first nine weeks and school leaders say they'll focus this week on making sure students and parents are properly set up for distance learning. That means getting each child a Chromebook or an internet hotspot if a new one is needed, learning how to log into Zoom or Canvas, and going over virtual classroom behaviors and expectations. Some students will be able to take part in live virtual classes on Monday or watch the instruction back later. The district says families who need breakfast and lunch meals will be able to pick up meals during their school's distance learning supply pick-up.

TPS is also offering its virtual academy for K-12 students and the district says those students will have access to electives, likes music, fine arts, and physical education.

You can find a back-to-school checklist for each school on the district's website.
