Update: 1 In Custody After Deadly Shooting Near Fairland

An Ottawa County woman was found shot to death near Fairland Wednesday night. OSBI now has a juvenile in custody.

The OSBI continues to investigate a deadly shooting and officials had her husband and 12-year-old daughter detained that evening for questioning.

Authorities said a 12-year-old girl called the department and stated something was wrong with her mother. Deputies arrived and found the girl’s mother sitting in a recliner, dead with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officials said a juvenile suspect is in custody but there are no charges at this time.
