City Of Tulsa Announces New Dog Park For Downtown

The Tulsa Parks Department said the city will get a new dog park soon in downtown Tulsa.

It will be at Gunboat Park near 12th and Elgin.

It's much smaller than the two other off-leash parks in the city but is part of a new idea to create smaller dog parks in neighborhoods.

"My hope is that we can kind of see how that model works on a smaller scale with the focus on serving the nearby community,” Tulsa Parks Director Anna America said. “If it's successful, I think there's an opportunity to do that in other parts of town.”

A dog park is also one of many options for a new park at 71st and Highway 1-69.
