The man accused of killing two Tecumseh teenagers in a 2019 car crash will face a Pottawatomie County jury for two counts of first-degree manslaughter Monday morning.

If Roger Flint is convicted he could face four years to life in prison.

District Attorneys argued the 61-year-old should’ve never been behind the wheel. They said he had been in a few accidents and suffered a seizure just days before the deadly crash.

“It shocked my conscious that it took DPS so long to take his license,” said DA Allan Grubb. “DPS did not do a good job monitoring this individual. He has driven through approximately three buildings in the past two to three years.”

In January 2019, witnesses say Flint was swerving all over the road near West 45th Street and North Aydelotte Avenue in Shawnee.

Investigators said he was driving 122 MPH and witnesses testified his car went airborne, hitting Logan Deardorff’s mustang from behind.

“He was with his car that he loved more than anything,” said Deardorff’s mother Cheryl McKenzie. “ And he absolutely adored his girlfriend. She changed his life.”

Deardorff and his girlfriend Shelby Johnson, were trapped in the car while police and others tried to rescue them. They both died at the scene.

“He took my son and my son was my world. He changed my life and my family’s life forever.”

“My heart goes out to the family everyday,” said DA Grubb. “These were really good kids, and this was a really senseless act that could have been easily prevented.”

Flint's just trial is set to start at 8:30 a.m.
