The Rogers County fair will go on as planned this week but will look a little bit different because of the pandemic.

Organizers say the fair has been happening for more than a century and will go on again starting Thursday despite the pandemic however, they are taking new steps to keep people safe.

All games and rides will be spread out to help prevent clusters of lines.

On the rides, people will be sat on every other seat or row to help with proper social distancing.

Vendors are expected to sanitize the rides frequently.

Organizers said the fair usually sees about 25 thousand people each year and easy gathering areas like tents and bleachers are gone this year.

Masks are encouraged but will not be required. Organizers say this goes along with the city’s ordinance and all of these measures are a part of a team effort.

Fair Organizer Allison Dietzfeld said, “we have been working all year hand in hand with our city officials, our county officials, our local emergency management team. We’ve worked countless hours our carnival company specifically and we feel confident that we have implemented enough of those safety precautions.”

Live concerts, the circus and livestock shows will continue as planned.

The event begins tomorrow at the Claremore Expo Center an admission to the fair is free.
