Vinita Public Schools confirmed Saturday that one of its high school students has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The district said in order for it to properly conduct contact tracing, all high school students will transition to distance learning starting Monday.

Only teachers and faculty will be allowed on the high school's campus.

The student's sibling, who is a student at Will Rogers Elementary, has not tested positive for the virus but will be quarantined.

VPS said all other students at other school sites will continue with in-person instruction.

Any students who might be at risk will be contacted by the district.

A decision on middle and high school activities will be determined Monday after the completion of contact tracing.
