Tulsa Ballet will return to their studios to begin rehearsals for COVID-19-safe performances.

The ballet said after a six-month furlough, dancers will be able to return, thanks in part to a Tulsa County RESET grant that allowed the ballet to install a state-of-the-art purification system.

“I am delighted that, after six months of hibernation, Tulsa Ballet can return to its core mission: that of creating and performing live dance,” Artistic Director Marcello Angelini said.

The Tulsa Ballet stressed that not only is it difficult to perform and host live audience while maintaining social distance guidelines, protecting the air for dancers is important.

“The most important step in this process, second only to wearing face masks in rehearsals and even performances by our dancers and audiences alike, was the air purification system,” Angelini said. “Dancers exhale forcefully, as our art form requires exerting high bursts of energy. Thus, the necessity to upgrade our HVAC system.”
