A Collinsville couple has gone all out for Halloween this year and transformed their two-story garage into a haunted house for the community.

They have spent all kinds of money and time bringing this space to life for Halloween night. This year, they have added a new element to help give back to kids in need, while terrifying every family who walks through their doors.

There are people who love Halloween and then there is Will Hays.

“You know when you say your vows through thick and thin? You never know if that includes Halloween or not!” said Will’s wife, Elizabeth Hays.

With the help of his family, Will has transformed their two-story detached garage into a haunted house for the community.

“We have about 20 friends who are going to be actors in it as well. We are not paying them or anything!” said Elizabeth.

Will and his family have been working in this maze since January, so enter at your own risk! There are all kinds of creatures lurking in these hallways.

"You are walking into another world and every door you open up there is going to be different music, different lighting," said Elizabeth.

This haunted house was a last-minute idea last year, and 300 people showed up. This year, the couple decided you're going to need a ticket to get in. Your ticket will be a toy for a child in need.

"Just bring a toy that we can donate to Toys-for-Tots," said Elizabeth.

The family said every actor will be wearing masks and only three to five people will be allowed into the haunted house at a time. They still have a way to go, but this space will be transformed just in time for Halloween night.

"I have already told my husband, Christmas lights are going up November 1, like we are going to need to switch it over because this is scary and this is my home," said Elizabeth.

The haunted house is in Downtown Collinsville, but the address will not be released by the family until the week of Halloween.
