Here’s a look at six things to know before you set your alarm for Thursday.
.HERO RETURNING HOME: After months of rehab, Tulsa Police Officer Aurash Zarkeshan will be back home Thursday after he was shot in the head on duty in June. In honor of his perseverance and bravery, Mayor G.T. Bynum proclaimed Thursday Officer Aurash Zarkeshan Day.
.NEW CUP OF JOE: Mayor G.T. Bynum will cut the ribbon of the new Topeca coffee location. The locally owned shop is opening in the Vast Bank building downtown Thursday at 8:30 a.m. The location will also serve wine, beer and cocktails.
.HIRING EVENT: If you’re looking for work, Bass Pro in Broken Arrow is looking to hire 75 people. Walk-ins are welcome for in-site interviews from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
.LET’S TALK PARKS: There will be another virtual input meeting about Tulsa Parks, with $30 million set aside for improvements. It’s from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Tulsa Parks Facebook page.
.THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: It’s fall break and that means high school football is Thursday night instead of Friday. Our Game of the Week is Victory Christian at Metro Christian and kickoff is at 7 p.m.
.WRONG SIDE OF THE BED: Thursday is National Grouch Day, so if you’re in a bad mood when you wake up, at least you have an excuse to tell your coworkers.
