According to both AAA and the Department of Wildlife Safety, an increase in deer-related crashes begins this time of year.
According to AAA, 711 crashes in Oklahoma involved deer last year. Two of those crashes proved to be fatal for the drivers, and nine people were seriously injured.
Deer-related crashes can be even more dangerous for other drivers on the road as the usual reaction from many drivers is to swerve to avoid hitting the animals, creating hazards for oncoming traffic.
Alongside the potential for injuries, many times insurance companies to not cover damage from crashes involving deer, unless drivers explicitly go out of their way to include it in their coverage.
