The United States is not the only country battling a surge in COVID-19 cases. Across Europe, countries are seeing record numbers of new cases and hospitalizations.

French President Emmanuel Macron declared a state of emergency and placed a curfew on nine cities.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson is working to avoid a total shutdown by putting in place measures like closing pubs and restricting social gatherings. A survey in the UK showed that people would accept a lockdown as long as the government became more clear with their COVID-19 policies.
