OG&E Provides Critical Update On Power Restoration Timeline

There are about 148,000 people that will wake up in the dark Monday due to last week's historic ice storm.

About 290,000 people have had their power restored, and OG&E has repeatedly said this storm caused the largest number of outages in company history.

In Oklahoma City there are more than 80,000 people in the dark right now.

OG&E estimated power will be restored to most of the city by Tuesday, but the energy company said the remaining customers should be back up and running by Friday.

The energy company brought together the largest group of restoration personnel in their history. 3,500 crew members are working around the clock, but company leaders said this process has to be strategically done.

Right now crews have 96 % of polling places restored and they plan to have the rest up and running before election day.

Power has also been restored to hospitals and shelters as well. 

"We're strategically prioritizing schools to be energized and also to provide estimate times of restoration to administrators so they can make important decisions," Dallas Rowley, Incident Commander OG&E.
