The road to a 4A championship officially begins Friday for Wagoner as the undefeated Bulldogs face Skiatook. A win for Wagoner guarantees a District 4A-3 championship.
In year a where high school games have been canceled or postponed, Wagoner just keeps marching on.
The Bulldogs are a perfect 9-0 and have a chance to finish the season with yet another district 4A-3 title. All that remains is beating Skiatook.
"It’s a district championship game. Go in take care of business and get the win and be ready to be home for three rounds of playoffs,” Wagoner Head Coach Dale Condict said.
Braden Drake is the latest in a long line of Bulldog running backs who make an impact with just about every carry.
"The last 26 times he has touched it, he has scored 11 times,” Condict said. “He has always kind of been the guy that’s shown up in the big games, ever since these guys were playing little league football."
Drake has been the go-to guy for Wagoner. He has nearly 1,000 yards rushing along with 20 touchdowns on the ground. Condict said that hard work draws comparison to former bulldog and current OSU Cowboy Malcolm Rodriguez.
"There are similarities there, especially in their work ethic, they continue to remain humble and they show up in big games,” Condict said.
We wrestled in the same club a lot,” Drake said. “I've always looked up to him, he has always been a really good kid."
