The Broken Arrow Elks Lodge will be hosting its first Veteran's Day parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday and make their way through downtown Broken Arrow.
City Councilor, Debra Wimpee says, about a year ago, City Council members started talking about having a Veteran's Day parade, but it wasn't until someone from the Elks Lodge came before City Council in September that the idea became reality. The parade starts at Main and College and proceeds south, ending at Veterans Park. Wimpee says Broken Arrow is known for its strong support for veterans.
"This is just one more way for us to give back and say that we honor you. We will always honor you forever, past and present."
138 veterans volunteer at the Elks Lodge and some of them say they are excited to be a part of the first Veteran's Day parade in Broken Arrow. More than 30 people have registered to participate in the parade which begins at 10 a.m.
