The Oologah-Talala School District’s accreditation remains on probation as a result of several misconduct allegations. The district gave its required quarterly update to the State Board.
Thursday, the district focused on what they’re doing to improve student safety.
This is the second time the district has given an update since it was put on probation in June following a slew of sexual misconduct allegations involving teachers and students.
The state board gave the district nine directives to address the problems and the district said it's completed all of them.
Brian Bobek, a state board member, commended the efforts.
"I just want to applaud Mr. Sappington and your team there and the leadership and picking up and getting with this," Bobek said. "I feel like we've made a lot of progress here."
The board was pleased with the district's progress but encourages administrators to keep moving in the right direction with more Title-IX training and updates on new staff.
The next report is expected February 21.
