Broken Arrow’s Rose District is kicking off their annual Christmas festivities on Thursday at 6 p.m.

This year’s celebration theme is “It’s a Wonderful Life” as a way to remind people that there is still some joy during a year that’s been full of difficulty.

The fun begins at 6 p.m. but the giant Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. at the pavilion along Main St. There will also be physically distanced visits with Santa, Christmas music, and of course the traditional outdoor ice skating rink for all ages. The celebration itself is free for everyone but skates must be rented.

The Rose District’s Marketing Technician Erin Hofener said they are excited to see their little section of town turn into what seems like a Christmas Hallmark movie once again.

“We are trying to gain that excitement and do everything we can to make it safe for people to come out and shop, eat, have a wonderful time out here and that’s why it’s so important this year to continue with the holiday celebrations,” Hofener said.

The Rose District staff are asking everyone to please wear a mask during the event and try to stay as distanced as possible to keep everyone safe.
