Tulsa Public Schools is making changes to its COVID-19 safety plans.
According to TPS, over the last week officials have kept in touch with school teams to better understand how COVID-19 safety protocols are working. District officials said that the new updates are based on feedback from those teams and the Tulsa Health Department.
TPS said that contact tracing for someone who came into contact with an individual who had a positive case will not begin until the exposed person begins to show symptoms. Previously, they would have been counted as a presumptive case.
According to the district, if a student develops COVID-19-like symptoms or comes into close contact with someone who has tested positive, their parents must notify the school immediately and keep their child at home and out of in-person classes.
Tulsa Public Schools reported that one elementary classroom at Eisenhower International School is back in distance-learning due to some students showing COVID-19 like symptoms.
