A Bartlesville pediatrician has issued a warning to parents to take precautions now to protect their children from COVID-19 as no one is immune to the virus.

Dr. Gopal Chandrasekharan said that he has been trying to keep the Bartlesville community informed about what cases are looking like within the city.

According to Dr. Chandrasekharan, he has not seen a large number of positive cases among children, but he said that children tend to be asymptomatic carriers of the virus.

Symptoms in children can range from runny nose and congestion to more serious ones like vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pains, according to Dr. Chandrasekharan. And with the virus still hitting communities, Dr. Chandrasekharan said that it is even more important for children to get their typical yearly vaccines.

Dr. Chandrasekharan said that it is especially important to strictly follow CDC guidelines because of how unpredictably the virus is spreading.
