Jury Selection Postponed In Trial Of Mannford Police Officer Accused Of Killing Police Chief

Jury selection was postponed on Monday in the trial of a former Mannford police officer accused of killing Mannford Police Chief Lucky Miller while attending a training seminar in Florida in 2019.

Former Mannford training officer Michael Nealey is charged with murder after he was accused of beating Police Chief Miller to death in a hotel last November.

According to arrest reports, a maintenance worker found Nealey sitting on top of Chief Miller, whose face was badly swollen. The reports stated that Nealey's hands were swollen and his nose and lip were cut.

Authorities in Escambia County, Florida said that they believed alcohol was a factor in the situation.

Nealey first appeared in court a couple of days after Chief Miller's death. At the time, Nealey's attorney claimed that there was video from Chief Miller's phone that would prove Nealey did not have criminal intent. Nealey's attorney maintains that nobody knows what really happened.

According to court records, the court has not said when jury selection will happen.
