A Facebook group called ‘Stand Up to COVID-19: Support Local Tulsa Business’ continues to give Oklahoma businesses a much-needed boost during the pandemic.

Diana White, the founder of the page, is a business owner herself and said this is just one example of how important it is to support each other during these uncertain times.

The group was created right after the pandemic started and is credited with really helping during these tough nine months. The group's goal is to get the word out that local is still important, especially during a COVID-19 economy.

"Just wanting to help our close friends and clients and businesses because they were really worried,” White said.

White said the page has grown to almost 37,000 followers and she now sees it as a beacon of light as it allows folks to promote their businesses, products, or services.

"Electrician, I need a plumber, I need a great pizza place, whatever kinds of product and service people can go it,” White said.

White runs the page, and said she is always finding ways to help promote locally owned businesses, while also preventing controversial comments or posts.

“Most of the people have complied and have been wonderful,” White said.

White said she will even do shoutout videos for local businesses.

Nancy Bruce, the owner of Lambrusco’z Deli in Tulsa, said she lost 40% of her revenue in March, but was able to gain that back after joining the Facebook group.

"People were just on there and everyone was helping local,” Bruce said.

White said she's overwhelmed, but not surprised, about the support the page has gotten over the past nine months.

“Tragedies or challenges in our community, people have always stepped up to help,” White said.
