The Rotary Club of Tulsa continues its annual heart-warming holiday tradition allowing KIDS to Shop With A Cop.
Rotary President Paul Bauman says they noticed kids in the area needed positive interactions with law enforcement and say this is a chance to get to know them beyond their badge. Rotary has hosted Shop With A Cop for almost two decades, and with the generous donations during their virtual fundraiser and $2,500 gift from Mark Allen Chevrolet, rotary says they managed to raise an additional $6,500 this year.
The students of Celia Clinton Elementary were asked to make wish lists of what their parents and siblings want and need. Rotary says they're being paired with a police officer and a Rotarian this morning, and with a budget of a few hundred dollars, they go shopping for their families.
Now what the children don't know is the shopping doesn't stop there their buddies find out what they want and secretly shop for the kid. Bauman says as an added bonus these families are also going home with groceries.
