Jenks Public Schools announced it will follow the new quarantine guidelines issued by the CDC.
Officials said the new guidelines apply to both students and staff quarantines, and there are multiple options.
According to officials in a letter, the first option requires no COVID-19 test and “The general quarantine period has decreased from 14 days to 10 days. Those who have been in close contact with a positive case, can return to school on day 11 if they are not showing any symptoms.”
Officials also stated option two allows for the possibility of a shortened quarantine with a COVID-19 test; however, there are multiple requirements.
“The earliest a person can be tested is on Day 5 of the quarantine,” officials stated. “The test may be a rapid test OR a PCR test. If the test result is negative, they may return to school on Day 8 of the quarantine if they are not showing any symptoms. Students must present a copy of the test results to return to school.”
